Spirit Against Flesh
See the conflict between the Spirit and the flesh, and why believers must walk after the Spirit.
Go back to battling the fleshGod’s greatness should humble the human heart because everything we have — our life, body, mind, abilities, world, and opportunity to be saved — comes from God. Recognizing His greatness exposes pride and points us toward repentance, worship, and dependency on Jesus Christ.
You are in the 'Walk with Jesus' journey. This study comes after learning to stay in Jesus and to battle the flesh, because humility before God is essential for a real walk with Christ.
Pride makes a person claim honor that belongs to God. Recognizing God’s greatness helps us repent, worship, and depend on Jesus Christ instead of trying to cleanse ourselves.
The answer is easy if we would ask a different question:
What have we truly contributed to the world we live in? Consider the basics – did we play a part in creating the world?
Key verses: Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23
We aren't even able to make ourselves perfect according to His standards.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
We need to accept His blood shedding offer on the Cross to become acceptable for Him:
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Pride, in contrast, is a form of ungodliness.
God’s greatness should humble us because our life, body, mind, abilities, and world were not created by us.
Pride claims honor for ourselves that belongs to God.
